Disney+ has halted the development of a live-action series based on its classic 90s animated show, 'Gargoyles'. The project, which was first revealed in 2023, was being produced by Atomic Monster, with James Wan and Michael Clear as executive producers,
and Gary Dauberman set to write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner. The original animated series, which aired from 1994 to 1997, tells the story of Goliath and his clan of gargoyles, who are cursed to sleep for 1,000 years before being awakened in modern-day New York City. The cancellation was confirmed by Greg Weisman, the creator of the original animated series, during a panel at Fan Expo Canada. Weisman stated that the live-action side of the project, which Atomic Monster had licensed for Disney+, is now "dead."
