Novartis' investigational BTK inhibitor, remibrutinib (marketed as Rhapsido for chronic spontaneous urticaria), has demonstrated positive results in two late-stage studies (REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2) for relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). The trials showed
that remibrutinib reduced relapse rates and disease progression compared to the active control, teriflunomide. The drug also led to stronger reductions in inflammatory brain lesions and showed benefit in secondary endpoints, including disability progression at three and six months. These results position Novartis for an FDA filing next year, setting the stage for competition with Roche's BTK inhibitor, fenebrutinib, which is also nearing market entry for MS.
