A recent analysis of UK Biobank data suggests that substantial cardiovascular risk reduction may require significantly more weekly activity than the current 150-minute guideline. The study found that while meeting the 150-minute recommendation is associated
with an 8% to 9% reduction in cardiovascular risk, a more substantial reduction is linked to 560 to 610 minutes of activity per week. This figure is three to four times the current recommendation, equating to nine to ten hours weekly. The study highlights the difference between self-reported activity and device-measured activity, noting that the latter captures a broader range of movements.
