What's Happening?
CBS Sports has entered into a multiyear media rights agreement with Concacaf, making Paramount+ the exclusive English-language platform in the United States for the Concacaf Champions Cup, the Concacaf Central American Cup, and the Concacaf Caribbean
Cup through the 2030 season. Paramount+ will stream all 137 matches across these three men's club competitions each season, including 51 Concacaf Champions Cup matches, 58 Concacaf Central American Cup matches, and 28 Concacaf Caribbean Cup matches annually. Additionally, select matches will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network. This agreement enhances CBS Sports' soccer coverage, which already includes the UEFA Champions League and Serie A.
Why It's Important?
This deal significantly boosts CBS Sports' portfolio in soccer broadcasting, positioning Paramount+ as a key player in streaming major soccer tournaments in the U.S. The agreement not only expands the reach of Concacaf competitions but also provides American audiences with greater access to international soccer. This could potentially increase the popularity and viewership of these tournaments in the U.S., benefiting both CBS Sports and Concacaf. The deal also underscores the growing importance of streaming platforms in sports broadcasting, as traditional networks continue to adapt to changing consumer preferences.
What's Next?
The fourth edition of the Concacaf Central American Cup is set to begin soon, followed by the Caribbean Cup, leading up to the 62nd edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup, which will run from February through June 2027. CBS Sports will provide comprehensive coverage through its various platforms, including studio programming and online reporting. As the tournaments progress, CBS Sports will likely focus on enhancing viewer engagement and expanding its audience base through strategic marketing and content delivery.
