What's Happening?
Orem is set to host its annual Christmas Maker's Market at the SCERA Center for the Arts on December 11 and 12. This free, two-day outdoor event will feature more than 150 vendor booths, a variety of food trucks, Christmas music, and scheduled appearances
by Santa Claus. The market is a collaborative effort between the SCERA Center for the Arts, Orem City, and the Orem Farmer's Market, aiming to deliver its largest iteration yet. Attendees can expect stage and roaming entertainment, smokeless fire pits, and free children's activities. Santa is scheduled to appear on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. The market will also include a ceramic Christmas ornament display and competition, with entries due by December 7 and a $10 entry fee. Booth logistics for vendors are being managed by Sunset Farmer's Market.
Why It's Important?
The return of the Christmas Maker's Market is significant for the Orem community as it provides a substantial platform for local artisans and small businesses to showcase and sell their products during the holiday season. With over 150 vendor booths, the event stimulates local commerce and offers residents a unique shopping experience, potentially boosting the local economy. The inclusion of food trucks, music, and family-friendly activities like Santa appearances enhances community engagement and provides a festive atmosphere for families. This event also highlights the collaborative spirit between local government, arts organizations, and farmer's markets, demonstrating how such partnerships can create vibrant community events. For vendors, it's an opportunity to reach a broad audience, while for residents, it offers a chance to support local talent and find unique holiday gifts.
What's Next?
Following the announcement, organizers will continue to finalize logistical details and promote the event to maximize attendance. Vendors will be preparing their booths and merchandise, while the Sunset Farmer's Market will manage final booth assignments. Community members interested in the ceramic ornament competition will need to submit their entries by December 7. Leading up to December 11, the SCERA Center for the Arts and Orem City will likely release more detailed schedules for entertainment and activities. The success of this year's market could influence future collaborations and the scale of subsequent holiday events in Orem, potentially leading to an even larger and more diverse market in the coming years. Local businesses and food vendors will be preparing for increased customer traffic during the two-day event.
