What's Happening?
Instructure, the company behind Canvas LMS, is supporting Louisville Visual Art's Art in Motion youth program as part of its Impact in Action initiative. This program, which is part of InstructureCon 2026, aims to engage 58 local students in a four-week
summer workshop series. The initiative connects students with professional artists, providing them with hands-on experience in art creation. The program culminates in a fashion show featuring wearable art made from recycled materials, which will be showcased at the opening reception of InstructureCon. This effort reflects Instructure's commitment to extending learning beyond traditional classrooms and fostering creativity among students.
Why It's Important?
The support from Instructure highlights the importance of community engagement and the role of art in education. By providing students with opportunities to explore their creativity, the program helps build confidence and problem-solving skills that are valuable in various aspects of life. This initiative also underscores the significance of corporate responsibility in supporting educational and cultural programs. For Louisville Visual Art, the collaboration with Instructure helps address the decline in arts participation among older students, ensuring continued engagement in creative learning.
What's Next?
The Art in Motion program will continue to be a part of InstructureCon, with plans to expand its reach and impact in future years. Instructure aims to further integrate community programs into its annual conference, enhancing the educational experiences of students and supporting local artists. The success of this initiative may encourage other companies to adopt similar community-focused programs, fostering a broader cultural and educational impact.
