Shield AI and GE Aerospace have successfully integrated the Axisymmetric Vectoring Exhaust Nozzle (AVEN) with the F110-GE-129E engine for the X-Bat collaborative combat aircraft. Originally used in the 1990s for F-16s, the AVEN system enables vertical
takeoff and landing for the X-Bat, which is set to have its first flight by the end of the year. The X-Bat will feature weapons bays similar to the F-35 and capabilities for electronic warfare and reconnaissance, marking a significant advancement in uncrewed aerial vehicle technology.
