What's Happening?
Hoffmaster Group, Inc., a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of single-use tableware, is investing $65 million to expand its Clintonville facility. This expansion is expected to create over 100 full-time manufacturing jobs. The project involves acquiring an adjacent
parcel and constructing an 86,000 square-foot addition to the existing facility. The expansion is in partnership with Gladstone Commercial Corporation, which is funding the land acquisition and building expansion as part of a long-term lease extension. Construction, managed by Keller, Inc., is set to begin in July 2026 and conclude by spring 2027. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is supporting the project with up to $1 million in performance-based tax credits, contingent on job creation and capital investment.
Why It's Important?
This expansion is significant for the local economy, as it promises to create over 100 jobs, thereby boosting employment in the Clintonville area. It also underscores Hoffmaster's commitment to meeting growing demand for its products, which include paper plates, napkins, and table covers. The investment reflects a broader trend of growth in the paper industry, where Wisconsin holds a leading position in the U.S. The involvement of WEDC highlights the state's support for industrial growth and job creation. Additionally, Hoffmaster's focus on sustainability and responsible sourcing aligns with increasing consumer demand for environmentally friendly products.
What's Next?
The expansion is expected to nearly double the facility's annual paper plate output, allowing Hoffmaster to better support its rapidly growing customer base. As construction progresses, the company will likely continue to focus on sustainable practices and efficient manufacturing processes. The successful completion of this project could set a precedent for further expansions or similar investments in the region, potentially attracting more businesses to Clintonville and contributing to the local economy.
Beyond the Headlines
Hoffmaster's expansion also highlights the importance of partnerships between businesses and local governments in fostering economic development. The collaboration with Gladstone Commercial Corporation and support from WEDC exemplify how strategic alliances can facilitate growth and innovation. Moreover, Hoffmaster's commitment to environmental stewardship may influence other companies in the industry to adopt similar practices, promoting sustainability across the sector.
