What's Happening?
Kith, a well-known fashion brand, has partnered with BMW to create a distinctive BMW X5 model. This collaboration features a BMW X5 E53 from 2000, which has been modified to include a 5.0-liter S85 V10 engine from the E60 M5, producing 500 horsepower.
The vehicle also retains its original four-wheel drive and includes a manual six-speed transmission. This unique model was showcased at the Monterey Car Week, alongside a new 2027 X5 by Kith, which features an exclusive Frozen Titanium Silver paint. The new model's specifications and availability remain undisclosed.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration highlights the intersection of fashion and automotive industries, showcasing how brands can leverage each other's strengths to create unique products. For BMW, this partnership with Kith not only enhances its brand image but also attracts a younger, fashion-conscious demographic. The introduction of a high-performance engine in a classic model appeals to car enthusiasts and collectors, potentially increasing interest and demand for such bespoke vehicles. This collaboration also underscores the trend of luxury brands engaging in cross-industry partnerships to expand their market reach.
What's Next?
While the unique BMW X5 model is a one-off creation, the new 2027 X5 by Kith could potentially be made available for purchase, depending on consumer interest and demand. BMW's previous collaborations with Kith have resulted in limited production runs, suggesting that a similar approach could be taken with this new model. The automotive industry may see more such collaborations as brands seek to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.
