The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) recently held its annual awards ceremony, marking the 80th year of the event. During the ceremony, Mark Tatulli, known for his comic strips 'Lio' and 'Heart of the City,' was awarded the prestigious Reuben Award,
recognizing him as 'Cartoonist of the Year.' The NCS also announced winners of their divisional awards, which celebrate achievements in comic strips, illustrations, and comic books. Notable winners included Stan Sakai, creator of 'Usagi Yojimbo,' who won in the comic book category, and Pierre-Alexandre Comtois, creator of 'Sunder,' who won in the graphic novel category. The winners were selected through a vote open to all NCS members, following nominations announced in April.
