What's Happening?
The Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) has entered into a two-year partnership with Marks & Clerk to provide intellectual property (IP) services to the Mining Innovation Commercialisation Accelerator (MICA) Network in Canada. This collaboration
designates Marks & Clerk as the preferred provider of IP expertise, offering legal, technical, and commercial support to network members. The MICA Network, managed by CEMI and launched in July 2021, aims to accelerate the commercialization of advanced mining technologies. The partnership will include workshops, advisory sessions, and efforts to share knowledge on IP success. CEMI's president, Douglas Morrison, emphasized the importance of protecting and commercializing IP to build globally competitive mining technology companies. The MICA Network is supported by Canada's Strategic Innovation Fund, with a $300 million investment to enhance the commercialization of mining technologies.
