Vandemoortele, a Belgium-based bakery group, has proposed selling its UK plant in Worcester as part of efforts to gain regulatory approval for its acquisition of Délifrance. This move comes after the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) raised
concerns about the merger potentially leading to a substantial lessening of competition in the supply of frozen laminated dough products. The proposed sale includes the plant's assets, contracts, and 73 production staff. Vandemoortele had previously pledged to sell two Délifrance facilities in France to address similar competition concerns raised by the European Commission.
