What's Happening?
Turaco Gold has announced significant depth extensions to the mineralization at its Woulo Woulo deposit, located in Côte d’Ivoire. The company reported that initial deep drilling has revealed mineralization extending below the current 1.7 million ounce mineral resource
estimate. Key findings include an intersection of 100 meters at 1.06 grams per tonne of gold from a depth of 495 meters, with higher-grade zones identified at deeper levels. The geological modeling indicates that these zones are situated along the western margin of the deposit, controlled by a plunging flexure associated with increased fracturing. Turaco's Managing Director, Justin Tremain, expressed confidence in the potential for material resource growth at the site. The company is conducting follow-up drilling to further explore the extent of the mineralization and assess the potential for expanding the pre-feasibility study pit design.
Why It's Important?
The extension of mineralization at the Woulo Woulo deposit is significant for Turaco Gold as it enhances the potential for increased resource estimates, which could lead to expanded mining operations. This development is crucial for the company’s strategic growth and could attract further investment. The findings also underscore the potential of the Afema Gold Project, of which Woulo Woulo is a part, to become a major gold-producing site in Côte d’Ivoire. For the broader mining industry, such discoveries can influence market dynamics by potentially increasing the supply of gold, impacting prices and investment strategies.
What's Next?
Turaco Gold plans to continue its drilling program, with approximately 2,300 meters of follow-up drilling aimed at refining the extent of the higher-grade mineralization. The company will also assess the feasibility of expanding the current pit design and explore the potential for underground resources. These efforts are expected to provide a clearer picture of the deposit’s full potential and guide future development strategies. Stakeholders, including investors and local communities, will be closely monitoring the outcomes of these activities.
