The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a significant partnership to establish an AI data center in Paducah, Kentucky. This initiative involves a collaboration with Brookfield, NextEra Energy, Big Rivers Electric Power Corporation, Jackson Purchase
Energy Cooperative, and Paducah Power System. The project will transform portions of the DOE's Paducah Site into a data center campus, supported by new energy infrastructure. The development is backed by a $100 billion private investment, marking one of the largest in Kentucky's history. The center is expected to create approximately 8,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent jobs. The project aligns with President Trump's Ratepayer Protection Pledge, ensuring that the energy generation and storage capacity will exceed the campus's needs, allowing excess electricity to be delivered to the regional grid.
