Delta Air Lines has announced a partnership with Shell Aviation to enhance the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at five major U.S. airports. This initiative is part of Delta's commitment to using 10% SAF by 2030, a goal that requires significant
technological advancements. The collaboration will focus on building the necessary infrastructure and logistics to integrate SAF into regular operations at Los Angeles LAX, Portland International, New York JFK, Boston Logan, and Minneapolis-St Paul airports. The partnership aims to leverage existing fuel infrastructure to scale SAF supply, initially focusing on first-generation SAF made from camelina crops and used cooking oil, while also exploring next-generation technologies.
