What's Happening?
The World Youth Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with approximately 30 members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, performed at the Interlochen Arts Camp as part of their annual residency. This event marked the third week of the 99th Interlochen Arts Camp.
The concert featured the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's music director, Jader Bignamini, conducting Michael Abels's 'Unbound,' a piece inspired by Olympian Jesse Owens, alongside Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. The performance was broadcasted by Classical IPR, which included interviews with composer Michael Abels and conductor Jader Bignamini, as well as insights from Detroit Symphony Orchestra cellist and Interlochen Arts Camp alum Úna O'Riordan.
