The Grand Forks Red River tennis team secured the Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) team title on Thursday in Fargo, winning three consecutive 3-2 matchups. As the top-seeded team, the Roughriders faced an initial challenge from the #8 seed Valley City,
narrowly winning 3-2. They then proceeded to defeat the #4 seed West Fargo Sheyenne and the #3 seed Fargo North with identical 3-2 scores to clinch the championship. Both the #6 seed Wahpeton and #8 seed Valley City also qualified for the state tournament through wins in the qualifying rounds. The state tournament for tennis is scheduled to commence next Thursday.
