What's Happening?
The JSI Alliance has successfully completed a significant project in India for Afcons Infrastructure Limited, involving the construction of a new liquid cargo berth for Gujarat Chemical Port Ltd. (GCPL). The project required complex heavy-lift operations,
including the installation of eight jackets and fifteen berthing dolphins, each weighing between 500 and 600 tons. The work was conducted in a challenging environment with a 10-meter tidal rise and strong currents, necessitating innovative mooring solutions. The project was executed without interrupting operations at two live berths, highlighting the logistical complexities involved. The heavy-lift vessel Jumbo Javelin was mobilized for the task, equipped with a flyjib and a tailored eight-point mooring spread to handle the seabed and tidal conditions.
Why It's Important?
This project underscores the capabilities of the JSI Alliance in handling complex maritime construction tasks, particularly in challenging environments. The successful completion of the project without disrupting existing operations demonstrates the company's expertise in logistical planning and execution. This achievement not only enhances the operational capacity of Gujarat Chemical Port Ltd. but also sets a benchmark for future projects in similar environments. The use of advanced heavy-lift vessels and tailored mooring solutions reflects the growing importance of technological innovation in maritime infrastructure development.
