What's Happening?
Black-owned wellness businesses in the United States are providing innovative ways to de-stress, particularly during National Black Business Month. These businesses, such as The Underbelly, OMNoire, and Dejha B Coloring, offer digital wellness platforms,
luxury wellness travel, and creative self-care tools. The Underbelly, led by Jessamyn Stanley, focuses on inclusivity and mindfulness through yoga and meditation accessible via a mobile app. OMNoire, founded by Christina M. Rice, curates luxury retreats for women of color, emphasizing rest and cultural connection. Dejha B Coloring, created by Khadejha Brunner, offers culturally affirming coloring books and kits to promote relaxation and self-care.
Why It's Important?
These initiatives highlight the growing demand for wellness solutions that cater to diverse communities, addressing both mental health and cultural representation. By supporting Black-owned businesses, consumers contribute to economic empowerment and the creation of wellness spaces that reflect their identities and experiences. This approach not only provides stress relief but also fosters a sense of community and belonging. The emphasis on digital platforms and creative tools aligns with the increasing need for accessible and inclusive wellness options in a fast-paced society.
