Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has successfully raised $1 billion in equity financing, marking a significant milestone as the first instance in the fusion industry where pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and infrastructure-focused corporate partners
have invested. This funding round, announced on July 30, 2026, brings CFS's total capital raised to $4 billion, representing approximately 30% of all private investment in fusion companies globally. The funds will support the completion of CFS's demonstration reactor, SPARC, which is 80% assembled at its headquarters in Devens, Massachusetts. The reactor aims to achieve first plasma and scientific breakeven by 2027.
