Aviloo, an EV diagnostics company, has conducted an extensive study on the longevity and performance of electric vehicle batteries. The study involved over 500,000 battery health tests across various electric vehicle models, spanning North America, South
America, Europe, Asia, and Australia between 2022 and 2026. The company assessed battery degradation after 50,000 km (31,068 miles), 100,000 km (62,137 miles), and 150,000 km (93,205 miles) of use. The findings indicate that electric car batteries generally hold up well, with most models retaining approximately 95% of their original capacity after 50,000 km and typically in the lower 90% range after 150,000 km. Some vehicles showed minimal degradation, losing only a few percent of capacity even after 150,000 km, while others experienced up to 20% loss after 100,000 km. Standout models identified for their battery performance include the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Hyundai Kona EV, Mercedes-Benz EQA, BMW i4, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Polestar 2, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
