Outrigger Resorts & Hotels is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Castaway Island, Fiji, a resort located in the Mamanucas islands. The resort first opened on July 6, 1966, and has been a staple in Fiji's tourism industry, known for its warm Fijian hospitality,
white sand beaches, and turquoise waters. Over the years, the resort has evolved from a small operation with just four bures to a renowned destination under the stewardship of Geoffrey Shaw, who transformed it into a symbol of authentic island hospitality. The anniversary celebrations will include a week of events from November 22-28, 2026, featuring a traditional Fijian welcome ceremony, a cocktail gala, and an environment day focused on coral planting.
