What's Happening?
The Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County is organizing the Petals and Pathways Home Garden Tour, a self-guided event showcasing eight private gardens in Port Angeles. Scheduled for Saturday, the tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and aims to raise
funds for the foundation's community initiatives. Featured gardens include Story Gardens, which began as woodland and pastures and now boasts thousands of bulbs and various roses, and Outside in the Garden Retreat, transformed from an overgrown area into a serene refuge. Other highlights include the Memorial Garden at the Captain Joseph House, a retreat center for Gold Star families, and Money’s Wonderland, which embraces an upcycle philosophy. Each garden will have a master gardener available to assist visitors and answer questions.
Why It's Important?
This event is significant as it supports the Master Gardener Foundation's community projects, which likely include educational programs and gardening initiatives that benefit local residents. By showcasing diverse gardening styles and techniques, the tour promotes environmental awareness and encourages sustainable gardening practices. It also provides an opportunity for community engagement and learning, as visitors can interact with master gardeners and gain insights into garden design and maintenance. The funds raised will help sustain the foundation's efforts to enhance community spaces and promote horticultural education.
What's Next?
Following the tour, the Master Gardener Foundation may continue to organize similar events to engage the community and raise awareness about the benefits of gardening. The success of this event could lead to increased participation in future tours and workshops, further supporting the foundation's mission. Additionally, the funds raised may be allocated to new or ongoing projects that aim to improve public spaces and provide educational resources for local gardeners.
