At the AWWA ACE26 conference, Xylem introduced the SmartBall X, an advanced inline inspection tool designed to assist utilities in managing critical pipeline infrastructure. Eric Toffin, Xylem's Global Product Manager, explained that the SmartBall X travels
through pressurized pipelines, collecting data on leaks, gas pockets, and pressure anomalies while mapping the precise location of buried pipelines. This technology aims to help utilities reduce non-revenue water, improve asset management, and minimize disruptions during repairs.
