salary of $236,000. However, the report also highlights a significant gender disparity, with women making up only 20% of 'head of AI' hires, 26% of 'director of AI' hires, and 18% of technical staff hires. While millennials are thriving in these high-paying roles, Gen Z workers are finding entry points in more junior AI positions, such as forward deployed engineer and AI engineer, with median salaries of $199,000 and $166,000 respectively. Despite major tech companies like Google and Apple reducing degree requirements, over 95% of new hires for top AI roles hold a bachelor's degree or higher, and higher education correlates with approximately $52,000 more in median pay. Workers without four-year degrees and women are often relegated to lower-paying roles like data annotation.
