What's Happening?
A new partnership between Florida's Holtec International, Louisiana's Entergy Services, and Seoul's Hyundai Engineering & Construction aims to assess the deployment of advanced SMR-300 reactors in the US Gulf South. The collaboration, formalized through
a non-binding memorandum of agreement, will explore the feasibility of dual-unit SMR-300 projects to provide 680 megawatts of carbon-free electricity. The reactors, which use pressurized water reactor technology, are designed to support large-load customers such as AI data centers and manufacturing facilities. The initiative seeks to identify commercially viable opportunities for advanced nuclear technology to bolster economic growth and enhance grid reliability and energy security.
