Chinese battery manufacturer EVE Energy has begun shipping lithium batteries from China to Europe via the Northern Sea Route. This new route is projected to reduce maritime transit time to Hamburg by nearly 50%, with the current voyage expected to take
approximately 20 days. The cargo, which departed Ningbo Zhoushan Port on August 15 aboard the Dubai Tower, will be distributed from Hamburg to Germany and Hungary. EVE Energy states that the China-Europe Arctic Express now operates annually, offering an alternative to traditional China-Europe maritime routes and covering major European trading ports. The batteries are manufactured at EVE Energy’s production bases in Huizhou in southern China and Jingmen in central China. The company also highlights that summer temperatures along this Arctic route, ranging from -3°C to 10°C, provide more stable conditions for temperature-sensitive lithium batteries during long-distance sea transportation.
