The planned sale of the historic Claudia Sanders Dinner House and Blackwood Hall in Shelbyville, Kentucky, has been canceled. The properties, which include the former home of Harland 'Colonel' Sanders and the first headquarters of KFC, were put up for auction
through a sealed-bid process that concluded on July 31. The Settle family, current owners of the properties, announced the decision to halt the sale, citing strong community support and a commitment to preserving the site's tradition and hospitality. The properties encompass 3.01 acres and include a 5,000-square-foot residence and a 25,000-square-foot restaurant and banquet hall. The auction also featured nearly 100 personal items related to Sanders, including his planner and handwritten recipes.
