What's Happening?
Kolkata-based ethnic wear brand Panghat has opened its flagship store in Pitampura, New Delhi. This new outlet, spread over 15,000 square feet across five floors, is the brand's largest retail space and marks its entry into a key market for premium ethnic fashion.
The store offers a wide range of bridal couture, trousseau collections, occasion wear, groom's attire, and festive apparel, with a focus on wedding wear. Exclusive collections, including high-couture sarees, are available only at this location. The store also provides personalized services such as bridal consultations and personal styling. The design of the store, by Mukesh Bhatia of SSB Architect, combines Indian heritage with contemporary elements. Panghat, founded in the early 1990s, initially operated as a manufacturing partner before entering retail in 2018. The brand has expanded to several cities, including Jaipur and Surat, showcasing traditional Indian weaving and embroidery techniques.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Panghat's flagship store in Delhi signifies the brand's strategic expansion into a major market for ethnic fashion. This move is likely to enhance Panghat's visibility and customer base in the region, potentially increasing its market share in the premium ethnic wear segment. The store's focus on personalized services and exclusive collections could attract a diverse clientele, including those seeking unique bridal and festive wear. By establishing a presence in Delhi, Panghat is positioning itself to compete with other established ethnic wear brands, leveraging its expertise in traditional Indian craftsmanship. This expansion reflects broader trends in the retail industry, where brands are increasingly focusing on creating immersive and personalized shopping experiences to differentiate themselves in a competitive market.
