Japanese airline Skymark Airlines has announced plans to lease seven Boeing 737 MAX-10 aircraft from Aviation Capital Group (ACG) to support its fleet renewal and growth at Tokyo Haneda Airport. This agreement, revealed at the Farnborough Airshow, builds
on Skymark's existing commitments for the 737 MAX-10, which is the largest variant of the 737 MAX family. The airline already has seven MAX-10s on firm order with Boeing, in addition to orders and lease agreements for seven 737 MAX-8s. The new aircraft are expected to be delivered starting in 2028. The MAX-10s will enable Skymark to increase seating capacity on key domestic routes from Haneda, where slot availability is limited. This move is part of Skymark's strategy to enhance efficiency and maximize revenue opportunities in high-density markets.

Skymark's expansion plans may prompt other airlines operating in Japan to consider similar fleet upgrades to remain competitive. The certification process for the MAX-10, which has faced delays, is nearing completion, with flight tests reported to be 98% complete as of early July. Once certified, the MAX-10 will become a key asset for airlines looking to enhance capacity and efficiency on high-demand routes.
