What's Happening?
Impact Minerals, in partnership with Kuniko, has initiated phase two of diamond drilling at the Commonwealth-Silica Hill Gold-Silver Project in New South Wales. The drilling program, managed by Titeline Drilling, will cover six holes over approximately
1,300 meters, targeting a high-grade gold and silver zone recently discovered at Silica Hill. This phase follows successful results from phase one, which intersected mineralization in all six holes. The program is scalable up to 14 holes, depending on ongoing geological assessments. Impact Minerals' Managing Director, Dr. Michael Jones, expressed optimism about the potential of the Commonwealth and Silica Hill sites, suggesting they may be part of a larger mineral system. Kuniko's Managing Director, Maja McGuire, highlighted the fertility and scale potential of the hydrothermal system identified in phase one. The project is located in the Lachlan Fold Belt, approximately 100 kilometers north of Orange, New South Wales.
Why It's Important?
The commencement of phase two drilling at the Commonwealth-Silica Hill Project is significant for the mining industry, particularly in the context of strategic and precious metals exploration. The project's potential to uncover a large, fertile mineral system could lead to substantial economic benefits, including job creation and increased investment in the region. The findings from this drilling could enhance the project's value, attracting further interest from investors and stakeholders in the mining sector. Additionally, the project's focus on strategic metals aligns with global trends towards securing critical mineral supplies, which are essential for various industries, including technology and renewable energy.
What's Next?
Assay results from the current phase of drilling are expected in September, with a mineral resource estimate upgrade planned for December. These results will be crucial in determining the project's future direction and potential expansion. The ongoing regional targeting review by Resource Potentials aims to refine existing targets and identify new prospects, which could lead to further exploration activities. As Kuniko continues to fund exploration under the joint venture agreement, the project's development will be closely watched by industry stakeholders, potentially influencing future investment and exploration strategies in the region.
