Mosaic, a major fertilizer company, has launched its first proprietary bionutrient, PowerCoat, in Paraguay, marking its entry into Latin America's growing biologicals market. PowerCoat combines biological microorganisms with mineral fertilizers, designed
to improve fertilizer efficiency, enhance nutrient uptake by crops, distribute microorganisms evenly, and reduce nutrient losses. The product has already been cleared for sale in Paraguay and is also available in North America. However, its launch in Brazil, a significant agricultural market, is pending the implementation of a regulatory framework for bioinputs. Brazil's bioinputs law was approved nearly two years ago, but the necessary implementing decree is still awaiting publication, currently under review by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin's office. Mosaic has conducted extensive research and trials, including establishing a specialized laboratory in Brazil for compatibility testing, and has seen positive results in tropical soil trials, with reported yield increases for soybeans and corn.
