What's Happening?
Translucent Energy has launched a new 1.2 GW solar module assembly plant in Summerville, South Carolina, representing an initial investment of $15.6 million and projected to create 167 local jobs. The factory's assembly equipment is currently undergoing
factory acceptance testing and is expected to arrive in Summerville in October. Commercial shipments are anticipated to begin in December, with a target of delivering 600 MW to 800 MW in its first full year of operation. This rapid ramp-up is designed to meet demand driven by Section 232 trade tariffs. The facility will initially focus on N-type cell technology across three primary form factors: utility-scale (G12, 710 W to 730 W), commercial and industrial (G12R, 630 W to 650 W), and residential (compact G12R, 450 W to 470 W). The equipment is also compatible with M10, G12R, and G12 wafer formats, supporting N-type, heterojunction (HJT), and PERC cell designs.
