The Navy offshore sailing team, with their vessel Poseidon, achieved second place in their division and sixth overall in the 49th Annual Around Long Island Race. The race, hosted by the Sea Cliff Yacht Club, saw Poseidon navigate challenging conditions,
including light winds and an incoming tide, as they started in New York Harbor. Skippered by senior Nico Martinez, the team made strategic decisions, such as hugging the shore to maintain speed, which paid off as they advanced through the fleet. The race concluded in Hempstead Harbor after a 207-mile journey.
