Annabelle Gurwitch, diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, found unexpected support and advice from a volunteer mentor, Hardye Moel, through the nonprofit Imerman Angels. This organization connects cancer patients with mentors who have similar diagnoses.
Moel's advice encouraged Gurwitch to embrace life despite her prognosis, leading her to start a new relationship and write a memoir about her experiences. Moel, who mentored multiple individuals, passed away in 2023, leaving a lasting impact on Gurwitch, who now mentors others in her honor.
