Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), have advanced in their bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has accepted their joint declaration of interest, allowing
them to proceed to the next stage of the bidding process. This marks a significant step for the AES countries, which aim to jointly stage Africa's biggest football tournament. The decision does not guarantee hosting rights but represents the first official step in their bid.

The joint bid by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to host AFCON 2032 is a strategic move to promote regional integration and showcase their capabilities on an international stage. CAF has invited its 54 member associations to bid for the 2028, 2032, and 2036 AFCON tournaments. CAF President Patrice Motsepe has encouraged the AES countries to continue preparing their bid, emphasizing the importance of security, infrastructure, and fan safety in the selection process. If successful, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger would be the first neighboring Sahel countries to jointly host the competition.
