What's Happening?
Polestar has announced the addition of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) variant to its Polestar 4 lineup, set to launch on September 2. This new variant will offer rear motor versions with a range of up to 630 km and dual motor variants producing up to 544
hp. Both versions will share retuned chassis components and a 400V electrical architecture. The SUV variant aims to provide greater storage versatility while maintaining the performance and design characteristics of the Polestar 4 coupe. The vehicle will be manufactured in Busan, South Korea, and is expected to appeal to buyers seeking a combination of practicality and performance.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the SUV variant is a strategic move by Polestar to capitalize on the growing demand for SUVs, which are increasingly popular among consumers for their versatility and space. By leveraging the existing Polestar 4 platform, the company can expand its product offering without the need for a completely new development program, thereby optimizing investment and resources. This approach allows Polestar to strengthen its market position and potentially increase its customer base by appealing to a broader audience. The SUV variant is expected to enhance Polestar's competitive edge in the electric vehicle market, particularly as it continues to focus on sustainability and innovation.
