Jenna Putala, a former softball champion from Turners Falls High School, passed away at the age of 28 after a three-year battle with sarcoma, a rare form of tissue cancer. Putala was a celebrated athlete, leading her high school team to multiple state
championships and later playing for Wesleyan University. Her playing career was cut short due to injuries, but she continued to contribute to the sport by coaching at Babson College and Nichols College. She also revitalized the Western Mass Warriors’ 18U team, which has since expanded to four teams. Putala was known for her dedication to her players, maintaining relationships with them long after they left the field. Her legacy is remembered fondly by friends and colleagues, who describe her as caring, compassionate, and resilient.
