Recent studies have confirmed the effectiveness of exercise in improving bone mineral density (BMD) and bone health in postmenopausal women. A systematic review of 22 randomized controlled trials involving 1,051 participants found that various forms of exercise,
including resistance training and vibration platform training, significantly improved BMD at multiple sites. The studies also showed an increase in bone formation markers, such as osteocalcin and bone-specific alkaline phosphatase. The research highlights the role of mechanical loading in bone metabolism, which is crucial for preventing and treating osteoporosis. The study recommends a multimodal exercise program tailored to individual needs, incorporating aerobic, resistance, and balance training.
