The National Puzzler League is gearing up for its 186th convention, set to take place in Bloomington, Indiana. The event, which attracts puzzle enthusiasts from across the country, will feature a new challenge created by Henri Picciotto and Joshua Kosman.
This week's puzzle involves identifying two opposite words that share a single letter. By removing the shared letter and placing a hyphen between the two words, participants can form a term commonly seen in food advertisements. The challenge is part of a regular segment on NPR's Sunday Puzzle, hosted by Will Shortz. Last week's puzzle involved transforming the name of a U.S. city into the names of two countries, with the solution being Los Angeles, which becomes Laos and Senegal. Elaine Neel of Derby, Kansas, was the winner of that challenge.
