What's Happening?
Kith, a lifestyle brand, has partnered with BMW to celebrate its 15th anniversary by unveiling two restored classic cars: a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi and a 1987 BMW M6, both finished in the iconic Inka Orange color. This collaboration marks the fourth chapter
in Kith's ongoing partnership with BMW, which began in 2020. The restoration process involved stripping the cars to bare metal and rebuilding them with original components sourced from BMW's archives. The 3.0 CSi, closely associated with the Inka Orange color, underwent a complete frame-off restoration, while the M6 received a full rotisserie treatment. These restorations are not for sale but serve as the design blueprint for the Kith for BMW 2026 apparel collection.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration highlights the growing trend of fashion brands partnering with automotive companies to create unique cultural moments and expand their audience reach. For BMW, the partnership with Kith allows the brand to tap into the lifestyle fashion scene, which is becoming a global phenomenon. For Kith, the collaboration lends credibility and exclusivity to its brand, as it aligns with a prestigious automotive manufacturer. The restored cars, finished in a color that holds historical significance for BMW, also appeal to collectors and enthusiasts, showcasing the brand's heritage and craftsmanship.
What's Next?
The Kith for BMW 2026 collection, inspired by these restorations, will launch globally on August 17. While the restored cars themselves are not for sale, the collection will be available in Kith stores, online, and through the Kith app. The collaboration may influence future projects between fashion and automotive brands, as they continue to explore new ways to merge their respective industries and create integrated consumer experiences.
