Hitachi Energy and Daikin Industries, Ltd. have announced a long-term strategic supply agreement for Hitachi Energy's EconiQ® portfolio of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)-free high-voltage technologies. Under this agreement, Daikin Chemical Europe GmbH, a subsidiary
of Daikin Industries, will supply C4-FN, a specialty gas component used in insulating gas mixtures for Hitachi Energy's SF6-free switchgear. Production of C4-FN will commence in 2027 at Daikin Refrigerants Frankfurt GmbH's facility in Frankfurt, Germany. This move aims to strengthen the supply chain for critical materials, ensuring the long-term availability of this eco-efficient technology. SF6 is a potent greenhouse gas, and the EconiQ portfolio, utilizing C4-FN, reduces CO2-equivalent emissions by 99% compared to conventional SF6-insulated equipment while maintaining performance.
