Hobart Airport has unveiled a new arrivals area as part of its ongoing $200 million terminal expansion project. This development includes an 85-metre U-belt baggage carousel and a Tasmanian-designed outdoor forecourt, enhancing the airport's capacity
by approximately 800 square metres. The new space is set to accommodate around 135,000 passengers during the school holiday travel peak in July. According to Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter, the project is two-thirds complete and aims to double the terminal's size, offering more space, food, retail options, and job opportunities for Tasmanians. The upgraded arrivals area features expanded baggage claim space and improved access to car rental offices. The outdoor forecourt, designed by Playstreet, incorporates elements of Tasmania's natural environment to provide a unique welcome for travelers.
