J.M. Smucker Co. has announced the promotion of Jeff Varcoe to the position of Senior Vice President of Science and Technical Excellence, effective August 24. Varcoe has served as the Vice President of Quality Assurance and Food Safety for the company
since 2023. His new role will involve overseeing scientific and technical advancements within the organization. Varcoe brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the food industry, encompassing various critical areas such as quality assurance, research and development, and operations. Prior to joining J.M. Smucker Co., he spent 21 years at Schwan Food Co., where he held several leadership positions, including Vice President of Food Safety and Quality, Vice President of Manufacturing Technical Services, Director of Research and Development, Director of Food Safety and Microbiology, and Manager of Food Safety. In his new capacity, Varcoe will report directly to Rob Ferguson, who is the Chief Product Supply Officer and Executive Vice President of Coffee, Pet, and Away From Home divisions.
