What's Happening?
Clyde’s Restaurant Group is on track to open its new restaurant, Ebbitt House, at Reston Station in October. The new establishment aims to evoke memories for former regulars of Clyde’s of Reston, which closed in May 2022 after 31 years. Ebbitt House will
be located at 1860 Reston Row Plaza and will feature a 260-seat dining room, two private rooms, and two bars, along with a third outdoor bar on a 125-seat patio. The restaurant will offer classic American fare, an extensive bar program, and a raw oyster bar, drawing inspiration from Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington D.C. General Manager Ajay Bhatia and Executive Chef Diego Ramirez, both formerly with Clyde’s of Reston, will lead the new venue.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Ebbitt House is a significant development for the Reston Station area, contributing to its growing retail and dining landscape. As a large-scale restaurant with extensive seating and multiple bars, it is expected to become a major social and culinary hub, attracting residents and visitors. This new establishment will create numerous job opportunities in the hospitality sector, boosting local employment. Furthermore, the return of familiar faces like General Manager Ajay Bhatia and Executive Chef Diego Ramirez from the former Clyde’s of Reston aims to re-establish a sense of community and continuity, catering to a loyal customer base and reinforcing Reston’s reputation as a vibrant destination for dining and entertainment.
What's Next?
Ebbitt House is scheduled to open its doors in October, following the completion of construction and final preparations. The restaurant will join an expanding retail lineup at Reston Row, which already includes Noku Sushi, Tous Les Jours bakery, and Vida Fitness, with a Back Nine Golf indoor simulator venue also on the way. The developer, Comstock Companies, recently completed the 419-unit BLVD Haley apartment building and an adjacent 6,000-square-foot retail space, further enhancing the mixed-use development. The opening of Ebbitt House will be a key milestone in the ongoing development of Reston Station, solidifying its position as a dynamic urban center.
Beyond the Headlines
The establishment of Ebbitt House at Reston Station represents more than just a new restaurant; it signifies the evolution of urban development and community building in mixed-use spaces. By drawing on the legacy of Clyde’s of Reston and the iconic Old Ebbitt Grill, the new venue aims to create a sense of familiarity and tradition within a modern, rapidly expanding environment. This blend of old and new reflects a broader trend in urban planning to integrate established cultural elements into contemporary developments. The emphasis on a welcoming atmosphere and diverse offerings suggests an effort to cater to a wide demographic, fostering a vibrant social scene and contributing to the overall identity of Reston Station as a comprehensive lifestyle destination.
