Bluecore Energy, a Long Beach, California-based startup, has successfully raised $50 million in seed funding to advance its floating nuclear power systems. This financing round was led by Silverton Partners and follows a $10 million pre-seed round announced
in July, bringing the company's total disclosed funding to approximately $60 million. Bluecore Energy is developing small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) designed to be mounted on barges. These floating SMRs are intended to provide electricity to high-demand locations such as ports, data centers, and coastal infrastructure. The company plans to utilize the new capital for engineering and hardware development, testing and validation, regulatory and classification work, manufacturing, hiring, and the advancement of its first system towards deployment.
