What's Happening?
Welsh clothing and lifestyle brand TOAST has announced that 99% of its 2025 clothing collections are made from natural fibres or cellulosic fibres from certified sources. This achievement is highlighted in their latest annual Social Conscience report,
which outlines the brand's commitment to sustainability through three key focus areas: Cherish Materials & Make, Minimize Waste, and Enrich & Educate. TOAST emphasizes the importance of using organic, recycled, and responsibly-sourced fibres in their fabric development. The brand also promotes a circular approach, having diverted 7,559 garments from landfill in the previous year, marking a 59% increase from 2024. Additionally, TOAST has introduced a reusable packaging pilot with start-up Kvatt, aiming to reduce waste by designing bags that can be used up to ten times.
Why It's Important?
TOAST's commitment to sustainability reflects a growing trend in the fashion industry towards environmentally responsible practices. By focusing on natural and responsibly-sourced materials, the brand is addressing consumer demand for sustainable products and reducing its environmental footprint. This initiative not only enhances TOAST's brand image but also sets a precedent for other companies in the industry to follow. The emphasis on circularity and waste reduction aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development. Furthermore, TOAST's expansion of circular initiatives to the United States indicates a broader impact, potentially influencing international markets and encouraging global participation in sustainable practices.
What's Next?
TOAST plans to continue its focus on innovation and sustainability, as stated by CEO Suzie de Rohan Willner. The brand aims to further its circular initiatives and expand its retail presence, particularly in the United States. This expansion is expected to increase consumer engagement in sustainable practices and contribute to the global movement towards a more sustainable fashion industry. TOAST's ongoing investment in sustainability and collaboration with industry partners suggests that the brand will continue to play a significant role in shaping the future of fashion. Additionally, TOAST's charitable contributions to support circular practices and workforce diversity highlight its commitment to social responsibility.
