The U.S. Maritime Administration and the Port of Long Beach have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to develop small modular reactor (SMR) technology for commercial vessels and port operations. This initiative aims to treat nuclear propulsion as a scalable

The agreement marks a significant step in integrating nuclear power into the shipping industry, which is currently exploring various alternative power sources, including liquefied natural gas and ammonia.
