What's Happening?
BYU Athletics has announced a multi-year sponsorship agreement with BYU Continuing Education, which will become the official jersey patch sponsor for the university's Olympic sports programs. The partnership will see the BYU Continuing Education logo
featured on the uniforms of six Olympic sports, including baseball, cross country, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball, starting with the 2026-27 athletic season. The sponsorship aims to support student-athletes who excel both academically and in their respective sports. BYU Continuing Education offers a wide range of educational programs and has been serving lifelong learners for over a century.
Why It's Important?
This sponsorship deal highlights the growing trend of educational institutions leveraging athletic programs to enhance visibility and support student development. By partnering with BYU Continuing Education, BYU Athletics not only secures financial backing for its Olympic sports but also reinforces the university's commitment to academic excellence. The collaboration provides a platform for promoting educational opportunities while supporting the athletic achievements of student-athletes. Such partnerships can enhance the overall reputation of the institution and attract prospective students interested in both academics and athletics.
What's Next?
The initial rollout of the sponsorship will include six sports, with plans to expand to additional sports such as golf, gymnastics, swimming and diving, and tennis in the future. As the partnership develops, both BYU Athletics and BYU Continuing Education will likely explore further opportunities to integrate educational initiatives with athletic programs. The success of this collaboration could serve as a model for other universities seeking to combine educational and athletic sponsorships.
