The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has conducted a comprehensive review of its strategic initiatives at the Donimalai Complex in Ballari district. The focus of the review was on enhancing operational efficiency, promoting sustainable
mining practices, and improving employee welfare. The management assessed the progress of key projects aimed at transforming the Donimalai Complex into a future-ready mining hub. This includes achieving a production target of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from the Kumaraswamy Mine and 17 MTPA from the Donimalai Complex. The initiatives are part of NMDC's broader vision to become a 100 MTPA mining company. Efforts to utilize underutilized resources such as iron ore containing up to 35% Fe, iron ore slimes, and low-grade iron-bearing materials were also reviewed. Additionally, the company has implemented an automated gate management system at the Kumaraswamy Mine to improve transparency and efficiency in iron ore dispatches.
